With over 35 years of teaching mathematics in Lebanese, French and American curriculums, Ghassan Antoun has dedicated his life work to developing creative and engaging approaches to teaching and learning.

The University of Balamand is proud to be launching a platform with the recognized educator who has been listed in the top 50 of the Global Teacher Prize.

Joining forces will make possible the development of an ongoing online platform starting with a Grade 12 curriculum, with a plan to consistently provide material over the course of many months.

The University plans to support on this personal initiative of his, in order to help grade 12 students in their math learning process.

His expertise in teaching mathematics and specifically education technology, allows him to create a guided course structure for students to engage in effective modern learning. This initiative will provide several students all over Lebanon with quality education, particularly during these difficult times, as many schools are unable to provide online learning. Online education will support many students and ensure they remain on the right track of their education, despite the ongoing circumstances.

This represents the first part of an E-school for learning mathematics, that allows students to grasp math concepts online for free using the latest methods, including advanced and interactive tools without the need to be assisted by a teacher. It can also be a supplement for teachers in their physical or digital classrooms. While it helps students to prepare for the Lebanese Baccalaureate, it is equally helpful for students of all curriculums.

The lessons include a range of activities such as videos introducing new notions, rules using specified Math software in an interactive context and based on advanced methods, videos in which there are solved exercises, and interactive exercises and problems from different levels of difficulties, designed on Geogebra software, featuring hints and solutions.

Some of these exercises are also scored in order to provide students with a self-evaluation. We are proud to offer students this opportunity by the internationally acclaimed Ghassan, who also received the “Global Teacher Award 2020” organized by “AKSEDUCATION”, and the Teacher of the Year award in Lebanon in 2018, by the Arabic Network for Popular Education in collaboration with “Varkey Foundation” and the Ministry of Education In Lebanon.

This project will provide an opportunity to collectively uplift quality education.
